Featherweight Singer 221 Cleaning & Maintenance

**If your sewing machine is not working and needs repairs, please address PRIOR to registering for the class.  Simply contact Allison C. Bayer two weeks prior to the class to ensure service and/or repair (972-943-8939).**

For a little more than what I charge to service your Singer 221 Featherweight, this three-hour class will cover everything you, the proud owner, will need to know to give your machine the tender loving care it deserves. This is a hands-on class in which you will bring your own Featherweight and participate in following:

●Troubleshooting by finding the source of irritation
●Thread removal from the bobbin race without removing it
●General cleaning of exterior and checking interior requirements
●Going over the electrical wires and discussion of foot controller

●Oiling and lubing – the difference and where each happens
●Checking the integrity of the belt: necessary install and adjustment

●Disassembly of the tension unit and adjusting with the final sew test
●Discussion of common causes of case odor and what to do about it

It is important that your Featherweight be in good working order.  We will get down to the basics of threading after properly installing the needle. Please bring your machine to class; requirement to sign up.  Class size will be kept to 4-9 students to allow for plenty of individual attention, when required.

No kit is required for purchase. I will have three sets of screwdrivers for shared use and will go over what I like about each set. If you wish to purchase after trying, that will be up to you with the aid of a resource list.  I’ll have Zoom spout oilers for sale for $2.00 cash.  I’m looking forward to working with you and to hear how you came to own your special sewing friend.
