Improv 301

Join Bonnie and explore ways to quilt your modern, improvisational quilt as well as
how to finish it with a faced binding.
After a break for lunch, you will have an opportunity to work with Bonnie on either:
1.Remaking a quilt top that you are less-than-thrilled-with into an improv quilt
that is uniquely you.
2.Or learn how to create an improv quilt using orphan quilt blocks.
Supplies:
•One quilt sandwich about 12”x12” to practice quilting with a walking foot and 1/4
yard of fabric for the faced binding
•One very small quilt top (24” square or smaller – think wall hanging size) —OR—
an assortment of orphan quilt blocks
•FABRIC REQUIREMENTS (please choose neutrals such as white, gray and black)
-1-2 yards light colored fabric (solid or reads as solid) that coordinates with the
quilt top and/or your orphan quilt blocks
-1-2 yards medium colored fabric (solid or reads as solid) that coordinates with
the quilt top
-1-2 yards dark colored fabric (solid or reads as solid) that coordinates with
the quilt top and/or your orphan quilt blocks
•Sewing Machine with walking foot and manual(please review your manual prior to
class so you know how to attach it)
•Basic Sewing Supplies
•Quilting ruler (6”x24” works best)
•Hera marker
•Purple Thang
•Acorn Easy Press Pen
•Note pad & pen for jotting notes
